Area of expertise:

Delivering whole school approaches to teaching emotional intelligence to support the well-being of pupils. Outdoor learning. Supporting Key Stage One leaders and helping pupils make rapid progress.

Previous experience of supporting staff or schools:

I recently trained at Yale University in the USA where I became an accredited trainer of RULER (teaching of emotional intelligence) I have experience of launching this whole school approach to staff, children, parents and governors. I have raised the profile of well-being and positive mental health by embedding pastoral goals as part of the performance management process.

As part of my teacher training I studied at Bergen University in Norway, where I learnt successful ways of implementing and teaching in the outdoor environment. I then went on to teach in an Infant school in the UK where outdoor learning was used for 50% of the timetable. I have experience of achieving exception KS1 results for all children whilst teaching in a creative and engaging way using the outdoor environment. I have since trialled outdoor learning in an inner city school proving that outdoor learning can take place in any school environment.

I have worked as a Key Stage One Leader for a number of years supporting NQTs, NQT plus ones, schools direct student and new middle managers. I have been through the external moderation process and can offer support on assessment to Key Stage One Leaders and teachers.

I have led coaching courses for the Southwark Teaching School Alliance and supported teachers/middle managers in a number of schools across Southwark.
