Area of expertise;

  • Special Educational Needs

I am interested in inclusion and diversity and how children with special educational needs can be encouraged to reach their full potential in mainstream classes. Having taught children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, dyslexia, ADHD, ASD. I am keen to inspire other teachers to make suitable provision for such children.

Previous experience of supporting staff or schools:

I have been a teacher in primary schools for many years in both England and Australia. During my time in schools, I worked with many children with special educational needs and became a Special Educational Needs Coordinator. Recently I have been seconded to the Local Authority to support the Inclusion and Monitoring team

I have supported my school and Local Authority in:

  • Problem solving and implementing new systems and interventions to impact on progress and attainment
  • Analysing data to identify areas to work to close the attainment gap.
  • Setting up systems to track, monitor and evaluate progress of all vulnerable groups
  • Coaching and empowering staff both to develop and share skills
  • Delivering and/or setting up training programmes to meet identified needs
  • Setting up programmes to accelerate learning.
  • Reinforcing the National Curriculum Statutory Inclusion Statement to ensure that all colleagues recognise that every teacher is a teacher of pupils with special educational needs
